Dog Days of Summer

My apologies, dear readers (and by readers I mean HI MOM!), for the sparse summer posting. This year’s hiatus was related to some fabulous things like this:

There was also a rough patch that left our entire household a little worse for wear. The key question for the past seven days was: is it the End of Bad Week (E.O.B.W.) yet?

Despite all the good and bad excitement, the lotus mosaic is… how you say… blooming. The flower itself is almost complete, and I have a very good idea of how to do the rest of it brewing in my mind.

I decided to go all out in terms of glitz: Sequins! Shiny gold foil! Reflective origami paper! Gold paint! When the light hits it at the right angle, this baby sparkles :). Unfortunately, in order to do the fine details that involve sequins and the gold paint accents, I need to move the entire operation to the kitchen to find a flat surface large enough to accommodate this gargantuan mosaic. It’s a good thing we’ve got a large kitchen table!
